Offered in packs of 12 to 16,000, strings of firecrackers are still handmade very similar to the way they were hundreds of years ago when they were invented in China. The only consumer item allowed using flash powder in the USA; firecrackers may contain a maximum of 50 milligrams per cracker. In most European countries, only blackpowder firecrackers are allowed to be sold to the public but the powder weight allowed per cracker is higher .
